Although the Grass Corp farm could be certified “organic”, the Stecklers have chosen to go beyond the certification criteria. The Stecklers value not only a chemical free farm, but also having the animals cared for in and nourished by their natural environment. You can be assured that there are no herbicides, pesticides or chemical fertilizers used on the farm.
Grass Corp is committed to providing fresh, delicious, and nutritious foods for their family and yours. They believe in the health benefits of eating only fresh, natural, chemical free foods and raw milk from grass fed animals. A quote from one of the industry’s experts, agrees:
“Switching from grainfed to grassfed meat and dairy products gives you a wealth of health benefits. First of all, you avoid all the synthetic hormones, antibiotics, pesticide residues, and questionable additives found in conventionally raised animals. But just as important, you get these added nutritional advantages: less fat, fewer calories, more omega-3 fatty acids, more CLA, more beta-carotene and a lower risk of E. Coli. It’s important to keep in mind that all of the six benefits listed above are the direct result of raising animals on fresh pasture. Products from animals fed significant amounts of grain will not have these benefits—even when the grain has been organically grown. The grain, itself, is the problem, not the way it’s been treated. Whenever ruminant animals are taken off their original diet of grass and switched to an artificial diet of grains and “by-product feedstuff,” their meat and dairy products are less beneficial for our health. Keeping them on pasture helps protect our health as well as theirs.”

The animals at Grass Corp graze on high quality pastures as much as possible. When pastures are inadequate, the ruminant animals receive high quality hay. For the animals, such as poultry and swine, who require a concentrated energy source, locally grown, non-GMO grains are used as necessary. None of the animals are ever given any hormones or antibiotics.
The Stecklers continue to establish breeds of animals that are genetically suitable for the pastoral form of production. Often times older heritage breeds are chosen as they are better adapted to a natural environment.
Grass Corp milk is not pasteurized or homogenized; the cream rises to the top. Their cows are milked twice daily in clean, modern, up-to-date facilities. Grass Corp has a pet food license and can legally sell raw milk under the label Not for Human Consumption.
The milk is chilled, and because it is raw, care should be taken to ensure that it remains chilled until it is used. It is imperative that you make provisions with insulated containers and ice or chillers to keep the milk cold while being transported. If you handle the milk as above, the milk should easily keep a week with no change in quality.
The Milk is delivered in glass jars. Customers pay a deposit for the jar(s) that will be refunded if/when the jar is returned clean. It is essential that both jar and lid be scrupulously clean and thoroughly dry. When cleaning, start by rinsing away the old milk with water that is lukewarm (either hot or cold water can cause a deposit of milk solids known as “milk stone” to remain on the surface of the container) immediately after emptying the jar. Then wash thoroughly with soap and hot water, rinse well, and air dry completely before putting on the lid.
